Waterflow – Water Stress Mapping in the vineyard through a sensor network is one of the winning ideas of the 4th edition of the Program PROMOVE (promote) the Future of the Interior, an initiative of the “LaCaixa” Foundation, in collaboration with BPI and FCT.
This idea, which arises from the collaboration of 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗗/𝗖𝗼𝗟𝗔𝗕 𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦&𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦 with 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮́𝘀-𝗢𝘀-𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗼 and is supported by 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗵𝗶𝗮 𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗮, has as purpose the development of a project to be carried out by students of this University. The main objective is the use of a network of sensors for the spatial assessment of the hydric state of the vineyard, in a continuous way, using current technology, non-invasive and with lower cost.
The development of this project will not only overcome the difficulties of traditional methods of measuring water stress, but also enable producers to monitor the water status of the plots in real time and remotely, supporting decision making and contributing to the sustainability of farms. The initiative also aims to contribute to the creation of new technological solutions, more accessible to producers, leading to the dynamization of inland areas.
